On December 23rd. 2006, we licensed our tumor marker for
urothelial cancer (bladder, urethra, and renal pelvic cancer) (Patent Number
3626177)
to Nippon
Kayaku Co., Ltd. through our partnership with Summit
Pharmaceuticals International Corporation,
In Japan,
the use of only 3 types of bladder cancer markers is covered by
medical insurance. Each
of these markers can only detect cancer up to 50% of the time.
With
our new marker Calreticulin (CRT) protein, the cancer detection
rate is approximately 70%. This
significantly improved detection rate, combined with the
productfs ease of use (simple urine test), represent key factors
leading to an expectation of sharply increased market demand.
